SecDaemon – An imagining of the SecurityBSD vision

Leonardo Botelho, a Brazilian FreeBSD and computer security enthusiast is a greatly valued member and contributor to the SecurityBSD project. One of his personal, older projects accomplishes some of the goals of SecurityBSD, with an emphasis on eusability.

All in all, it’s all pretty cool. Screenshots below.

Weaknet Linux IV released!

Backtrack Linux beware, there’s a new security testing toolkit on the scene, and it looks to usurp your throne. I am, of course, talking about WeakNet Linux IV. Made by the hacker Trevlyn of Phone Losers of America fame, it features a comprehensive set of tools for anyone interested in network security, computer forensics and penetration testing.

This release seems to be emphasising speed. Lots of changes have been made under the hood to make it a lot faster, including stripping away some of the more bulkier apps in order for lighter, faster ones and reducing the number of processes at start up.

I’ve not had a chance to have a real play with it yet, but when I do, expect to see a review here.

WeakNet Linux can be downloaded at their softpedia page here.

Student Hacker Information Technology Podcast: Episode One

Myself and Thomas MacKenzie from tmacuk.co.uk have made a podcast called ‘Student Hacker Information Technology Podcast’. Shitcast for short. It’s just a little bit of banter as we discuss tech news and life as a student studying Ethical Hacking at degree level. It also lives up to its name.

The Intro music is Inertia by the Tengooz, which can be downloaded freely on Jamendo.com.

Many thanks go to Richard Cassidy, who has kindly donated bandwidth and hosting whilst I am unable to access my cpanel and ftp. If we ever meet at a conference, remind me to buy you a drink!

MP3 here. OGG to be uploaded later on.
