Nate Lanxon was right.

I am writing this blog post to say that Nate Lanxon was right. He is the all knowing, all seeing writer for CNET UK, and I should listen to him more.

I recently bought a wPod (wannabe iPod) which was running the chinese firmware and could play AMV, OGG, MP3, ASF and WMA. It had tonnes of cool games on and it had FM radio with record function. It seemed like a pretty cool purchase.

My good friend Nate warned me that the Chinese firmware based MP3 players are usually pieces of crap. In this case, he was completely right.

It feels like it is running Vista because it constantly crashes and feels like it is swimming through molasses. Granted the FM radio and video player (generally) works OK, and the games are pretty good, but the MP3 player crashes easily, and if the player even remotely touches OS X, the file system gets corrupted.

This was an expensive mistake, and I have learned my lesson. Cheap isn’t good. Next time, I intend to get a real iPod!

Regards,

Matt

Nate does tend to be correct on most things of this ilk. He knows his stuff.
